be thankful when you brush

24.August.2009. Today in weird news, a woman in South Carolina was awarded two million dollars when her dentist pulled all sisteen of her top teeth, instead of the THREE he was only supposed to pull. Hmmm...I could crack about the fact that a woman in South Carolina with all her top teeth is a rarity to begin with, and of course she'd be upset to lose them all-she's probably the only one in her family to have all her originals. Maybe, possibly, she married into the family (maybe a family with an only son-so he couldn't hardly marry his sister). It could have been some weird wedding gift-a rite of passage, so to speak, so she'd fit in with the family more.
Then of course, I could make jokes about her dentist-possibly a hilbilliy himself, with just a guarantee of "If you drink till you drop, I'll pull your teeth out with my mama's pliers-no charge! Just invite me to your next drinking party!". But I mean, come ON, man...did you really think that she wouldn't notice thirteen more teeth missing in her mouth?!?? Seriously...this isn't just one or two, this it THIRTEEN! Give me a break!
Hey, I guess at least she got some money out of it. Just so there's not a rash of rednecks getting their teeth pulled so they can play the Beverly Hillbillies and become millionaires. Oh wait. That'll never happen, I forgot-the woman was a rare specimen.
Remember to be thankful when you brush,

P.P.S. Editor's Note: I have nothing at all against hillbillies, rednecks, or the south. Some of my best friends are rednecks through and through. I've even been considered one myself. And I've BEEN in the southern states...it's beautiful area. I just like to crack jokes, so don't take offense. Smile, Spatzi78

UFC-HOOAH!

UFC fighting. Wow, Mom. That's all that really needs said. I probably wouldn't have pegged myself as a fan of it, but I am. There's just something satisfyingly exciting about watching two people beat the snot out of each other. Ya know? It energizes me, pumps me up, makes me want to challenge someone. It puts me on edge, makes me want to do what they're doing, except with a whole lot more trash talk. You ever notice that? The fights I'm watching now are being held at Fort Bragg, for the troops there. In the background you can hear alot of yelling, of course. The thought crossed my mind that a bunch of those people in training get into scuffles for fun, and that there would be ALOT more trash-talking going on. Based on prior experience, I think it may be a prerequisite to getting into the military. Not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. Trash talking in that sense gets a person riled up, and makes them push themselves harder, to their limits, and beyond. If it WERE me on that octagon, I don't think I could keep myself from slinging some insults here and there, especially when we were on the floor in a wrestling move, even if I was on the bottom. I mean, really, the whole time the leading guy had his vic on the floor in a chokehold, I was thinking, 'Just whisper in his ear a little. Tell him he's gonna lose. Really get his blood boiling'.
Maybe it's the mouth guards keeping them from insults. Too slobbery.
Keep fighting the good fight,
Spatzi78

P.S. By the way, at the beginning of this fight, the one announcer dude made note of the fact that this was for the troops at Fort Bragg. He said that in Iraq and Afghanistan there were no tap outs, no fight-for-five-minutes-then-take-a-break fights, none of that. It was REAL fighting, with REAL death, not just a match. I would have LOVED it if they would have actually shown the National Anthem playing beforethe fight on TV. It gives me chills just thinking of the camera panning over all the people with their hands over their hearts, knowing that they could be next to be sent overseas. Thank you, everyone in the military, whether it be past, present, or future, for all that you do, have done, and will do.

What's In A Name?

Hello, and welcome to my blog. Let me just start by saying I'm kinda new to this, so any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
With that out of the way, you may be wondering why I named my blog "Exit 119". Well, when setting up this blog, I was googling "good blog names". Now you think I have no imagination. Not true by any means. I usually can think of something at the drop of a hat, but because I was trying to set this up hurridly, I hit a mental blank. Anywho, I came across this picture of a road sign for Exit 119. The exit led to a place called "No Name". Apparently, this is a realy live place, somewhere near Glenwood Canyon Park. (Not that I know where Glenwood Canyon Park is, either!) Now, I've not ever been to a place actually dubbed "No Name", but when I'm lost, everywhere is "No Name". We rednecks actually have an everyday term for this; it's B.F.E. Since I had no name for this blog, I thought the exit would be appropriate...it's more original than stealing the town name. See, told you I had an imagination.
And so a blog is born, complete with author and name.
Cheers,
Spatzi78
